Best Coffee Shops in Timisoara

Timisoara’s cafe culture is incredibly impressive for a city of its size. There are seemingly endless cafes with inviting atmospheres and good coffee.

I spent four full days getting to know the best of Timisoara, which included frequenting several coffee shops.

Whether you’re looking for a laptop-friendly cafe to work from or just a coffee shop to people watch, here were my favorite coffee shops in Timisoara.

Narativ

Next to the Bega River lies Narativ, a perfect spot to get a to-go cup for your weekday morning walk.

There’s not a ton of space inside, but the coffee was some of the best I had in Timisoara. It felt like a popular spot amongst the younger crowd with a friendly atmosphere outside. The line was out the door when we arrived, though it moved quickly.

Acas Specialty Coffee

You have to trek outside of the historical center to get to Acas Specialty Coffee. But if you’re a coffee-lover or searching for a modern coffee shop with great ambience, it’s a must. Plus, venturing to Acas is a good reason to take the tram, which is a great way to get around Timisoara.

Otherwise, Acas is a 30-minute walk or so from the center. Worth it though for how good my latte was!

Note that most tables at Acas aren’t laptop-friendly (unless that was just a weekend thing).

La Focacceria

More of a pastry shop than a coffee shop, La Focacceria has to be included on my list of favorites because I had arguably the best pistachio croissant of my life here!

Located on Liberty Square (Piata Libertati), La Focacceria really comes alive on weekends. There were so many parents and grandparents playing with their children on the square out front. It was a prime people-watching spot and perfect outdoor atmosphere.

Brewno

Brewno Timisoara

Brewno is a great coffee shop to work from in Timisoara. It’s laptop-friendly, has a large space inside, is located right in the center of old town, and has good coffee. The espresso tonic from here was fantastic.

Garage Cafe

Garage Cafe, also in the historical center, is more of a full-scale brunch spot than just a coffee shop. There’s a lot of space to setup shop from if you’re planning to work remotely and being able to get food while doing so is a plus.

La Taclale Cafe

Located on the bustling Bulevardul 16 Decembrie 1989 is the small La Taclale Cafe. The owner was very friendly and they serve fresh pastries as well. This is another good spot if you’re on the go!

Ovride Specialty Coffee

Ovride is well-known for being one of the best coffee shops in Timisoara. There’s always a decent number of people inside. They’re known for refreshing espresso tonics, though all of their types of drinks seem to be of high quality. They also serve pastries such as banana bread and croissants.

Bruck Cafe

Timisoara Union Square Cafe

Another one of Timisoara’s most popular spots is Bruck Cafe. It’s located in the historic Bruck House, a nearly 300-year-old building on the stunning Unity Square.

Bruck Cafe serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s quiet on weekday mornings, but bustling on weekday nights, so Bruck is also a great hangout spot for a night out in Timisoara’s historical center.
