Nightlife in Timisoara: Best Bars, Pubs, Clubs, and Live Music Spots

Most people don’t visit Timisoara for the nightlife. But the underrated city is beginning to attract more and more visitors, with many wondering if there’s nightlife in Timisoara.

I visited Timisoara for four nights and found several fun places to hangout after the sun went down. So if you’re on the prowl for a good late-night dinner spot, post-dinner pub, or nightclub with music and dancing, continue reading to find out more about Timisoara nightlife.

Is There Nightlife in Timisoara?

Timisoara at Night

Timisoara isn’t known for its nightlife, but you can find it. There were numerous bars and typical Irish pubs that made for a good time.

Unlike Bucharest and nearby Belgrade, you’re not going to find much of a club scene in the city. On weekdays, it can be especially difficult to find a party.

However, plenty of the bars and pubs stay open past midnight on weekends, a few of which often have live music.

Best Bars and Clubs in Timisoara

Here’s an overview of some of my favorite bars and pubs in Timisoara, along with a couple that I weren’t able to make it to but that I heard positive things about.

80s Pub

80s Pub Timisoara

This spot in the historical Fabric neighborhood was pretty crowded from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. on the Friday night we went. It was generally a younger crowd, and the vibes were fun. We made friends with a group of friends who we ended up chatting and laughing with throughout the night.

Scart Loc Lejer (“A Chill Place”)

Scart Loc Lejer Chill Place Timisoara

This small bar is tucked away on a quiet side street but is a great place to go to with friends for a casual hangout or board game night. It doesn’t seem like the place that ever gets too noisy or clubby, so it’s good for a first stop of the night.

Downstairs, you’ll find the Museum of the Communist Consumer. This makes Scart a great two-for-one establishment for visitors.

Drunken Rat Pub

Drunken Rat Pub Timisoara

We went to the Drunken Rat twice in three days. Located right along Unity Square (Piata Unirii), it’s a typical Irish Pub with decent food. The service was great (tipping is customary in Romania, by the way), and the drinks were standard.

We went earlier in the day, so didn’t get to experience it as a late-night spot (it did fill up, despite what the picture above looks like…). It did seem like somewhere that has a healthy amount of people on a Friday or Saturday night after dinner hours.

Irish Public House

Another Irish pub that’s a bit more hidden in the historical center is… The Irish Pub!

The outdoor seating here was very nice. You’re right near the action but tucked away on a side street so it was pretty calm. We had some delicious mici here and several beers.

Again, maybe not the place to party, but a good spot to pregame if you’re planning on partying later!

D’arc pe Mal

D'arc pe Mal Timisoara Club D'Arc

The best bar along the Bega River in Timisoara is D’arc pe Mal. It’s one of the best spots in Timisoara.

We went day drinking here and enjoyed my favorite Aperol Spritzes of my entire two-week trip to Romania. The setting is really pretty. Keep in mind that they don’t serve food unlike a couple other spots along the river.

D’arc, or “Club D’arc,” stays open until midnight or later on weekends and has a really good atmosphere. We were recommended to go later at night by a couple people, but couldn’t squeeze it in.

Elements Bespoke House

The unquestionable winner of best cocktail bar in Timisoara belongs to Elements. Nestled in the historical center, they specialize in cocktails, unlike most nightlife spots throughout the city.

Elements is open until 1:00 a.m. from Tuesday through Saturday, making it a good spot if you’re visiting on a weekday.

Fratelli Timisoara

Fratelli is classified as one of Timisoara’s few true nightclubs. If you want to get your dance on, this is one of your best bets. It’s location on the Bega and outdoor patio area give it a more distinct vibe than many other bars and clubs in Timisoara.

Brewers Garden at Timisoareana Brewery

Curtea Bererilor Timisoara Brewers Garden

We had a fantastic time at Brewers Garden behind Timisoreana Brewery on Friday night. There was a band playing live, traditional Romanian music, and a wide range of craft beer. The place was very crowded, so we were lucky to get one of the few open tables. If going on a weekend, it might be worth calling ahead of time to reserve a table.

Nemesis Art Club

If you’re looking for a sitdown music venue, look no further than Nemesis. It’s interestingly located within the Maria Theresia Bastion, giving it a medieval feel.

Nemesis often has live music, theatre performances, and film displays, so check in advance to see if they have anything scheduled for when you’re in Timisoara.

Stage Pub

Another spot open until 2:00 a.m. is Stage Pub. They commonly have live rock music, or at the least have a DJ playing rock music late into the night on weekends. Since it’s right in the middle of the historical center, it should be at the top of your list if you’re staying in the area and in search of a fun night out.

In-Summary: Timisoara Nightlife

Timisoara Nightlife

Timisoara nightlife isn’t going to blow you away in terms of quantity. However, the few lively bars we did frequent were really fun. Plus, the locals were super friendly and curious as to why we were visiting. Going out in Timisoara, especially on a weekend, is a great way to meet locals naturally!
