Where to Find Your Dock for a Budapest River Cruise

It’s no secret that a scenic river cruise is one of the best things to do in Budapest. In my opinion, a sunset boat ride on the Danube is not only one of the best things to do in Budapest at night, but one of the coolest experiences you’ll find across Europe.

But before you go, it’s crucial to know which dock your boat leaves from and where to find it. Popular cruise lines include Viking, Amawaterways, Avalon, Silverline, and Legenda, and popular docks include Dock 11, Dock 10, Dock 42, Dock 6, and Dock7.

Regardless of who you booked through or what type of cruise you’re on, whether it be a multi-day and multi-country cruise or just a scenic city cruise, this guide will walk you through where to find your specific dock or port in Budapest.

Where Do River Cruises Dock in Budapest?

River cruises in Budapest dock along a wide stretch of riverfront throughout the city center. There is not one main port in Budapest. Instead, it is a string of docks along the riverfront. Most passenger cruises dock anywhere from the Hungarian Parliament Building to Szabadsag (Liberty) Bridge, a 1.5-mile stretch. More specifically, between the Elisabeth (Erzsebet) Bridge and the Chain (Szechenyi) Bridge.

Therefore, it’s critical to know the name of your cruise line and specific dock number. If not, you’ll be very confused as to where to find your boat. Check your booking confirmation and emails sent to you by your provider to find more detailed information.

Below is a more specific breakdown of where to find your assigned port or dock in Budapest, based on your boat service provider or dock number.

How to Get from the Airport to the Viking Cruise Port

The easiest option is to use a rideshare service such as Uber or Bolt. You can also book a private transfer in advance if you prefer a pre-arranged pickup. For a budget option, you can take the 100E airport shuttle bus to Deák Ferenc tér, then switch to tram line 2 and ride along the river until you reach the stop closest to your assigned Viking dock, typically near the Chain Bridge.
