Brașov is a charming city in Romania, best known for its natural beauty and historic medieval Old Town. Many visitors therefore wonder whether Brașov also offers nightlife.
Brașov doesn’t have nearly the population of Bucharest, nor the large student population of cities like Cluj or Iași. So, nightlife in Brașov is fairly limited.
Still, there are some great bars and pubs in Brașov with dancing, live music, and a good beer selection. Strada Republicii is the main pedestrian-only drag in Old Town and it stays super lively at night. There are even a couple of nightclubs that do get pretty crowded on weekends.
Here’s an overview of the best places for a night out in this wonderful city.
Live Music in Brașov

O’ Peter’s Irish Pub
If you’re searching for live music in Brașov, your best bet is going to be O’Peter’s Irish Pub.
I went here twice during my recent visit to Brașov and had a blast. On Friday night, there was a live band and karaoke. On Saturday night, there was a DJ with an open dance floor. I can’t recommend O’Peter’s enough for a great spot to go post-dinner for live music and maybe even some dancing. The best part was that all ages were having a good time together, so there’s no age discrimination here!
Temple Pub
Temple Pub also supposedly has live music on most weekends. It’s a large place with an open floor for dancing if you’re in the mood. Since it’s outside of Old Town, you’ll find a lot more locals and less tourists, if that’s something you care about.
Best Bars and Pubs in Brașov

O’Peter’s Irish Pub
I know I’ve already listed O’Peter’s as the best place for live music in Brasov, but in addition to that, it’s also just one of the best bars in the city in general.
This an Irish pub through and through with a super welcoming atmosphere that includes a healthy mix of locals and visitors. You’ll find a typical bar upstairs, a fun room downstairs with comfy couches for conversing with friends, and another room downstairs for dancing and music.
Aftar Stube

Aftar Stube was one of my favorite places throughout my entire trip to Romania. This is essentially a beer garden that’s tucked away on a quiet street a couple blocks from Council Square.
It was perfect for warm summer days thanks to the shade provided by the trees and large umbrellas. We got to know a few of the wait staff, who were incredibly friendly. They told us that the majority of their patrons are locals (which we liked!). It’s easy to miss if you’re just visiting Brașov since it’s not on the main square or main walking streets. But Aftar Stube has the best craft beer and best overall beer selection in Brașov, so it’s a must-visit if you’re in Brașov—especially on a nice day.
If you’re hungry, make sure to get the fried cheese bites!
Musik Cafe

If you’re into the alternative crowd or music scene, you need to go to Musik Cafe located along the lively Strada Republicii. The atmosphere was super lively inside with a very open-minded group of people.
Musik Cafe is a pretty large space. I liked that there were multiple sections of the bar to hang out in, though it was actually so packed when we went on a Friday night that we could only find a small corner to stand.
Juno Wine Garden

Though not a bar or pub, I have to include Juno Wine Garden because we really liked the space.
Juno is owned by the same people who own Aftar Stube, so it’s no wonder that we also enjoyed this spot. It’s perched in a really serene part of the old town underneath the Black Tower (Turnul Negru) and White Tower (Turnul Alb). It’s a really nice setting for a sunset or nighttime drink. And obviously, there’s a massive wine selection.
Best Clubs in Brașov

There’s a limited selection of true nightlife in Brașov, but it does exist.
Times
After an hour or so of dancing at O’Peter’s, we made our way down Strada Republicii to Times.
This is the most popular nightclub in Brașov. There’s no better place to dance, and rest assured the dancing will go until the early hours of the morning. We got there around midnight, and it was significantly more crowded when we left around 2:30 a.m. (it’s open until 6:00 a.m.). The DJ was good, and Times was quite lively the whole time, with ample space to dance.
Note that there’s a 30 RON ($7 USD) cover and they only take cash.
Since this is the only nightclub that I frequented in Brașov, I can’t speak for experience anywhere else. But other places that I’d heard recommended include Temple Bar and Grill and Aftar Hours by Aftar Stube.
In-Summary: Nightlife in Brașov

Nightlife shouldn’t be the primary reason to visit Brașov, a city better known for its history, architecture, and natural beauty. If that’s what you’re after when visiting Romania, you’re better off heading to Bucharest.
While the food and beer scene is quite good—places like Dei Frati and Bistro de l’Arte are fantastic for late-night dining while Aftar Stube and Beraria Mustata have a wonderful selection of beer—there’s limited places for late-night partying in Brasov.
That said, you can still find nightlife in Brașov. Times Nightclub and O’Peter’s Irish Pub act as the city’s best nightclub and live music bar, respectively, while Musik Cafe is a great option for the alternative crowd. The pedestrian-only Strada Republicii (“Republic Street”) is super lively in the evenings, with plenty of spots to choose from.
Regardless of how you spend your night, I hope this guide can help you plan out your night in Brașov!
